Located within the Town of Birchwood is 4 school districts, Birchwood, Spooner, Hayward, and Rice Lake. The Town has its own Highway Department which is manned by 2 full time employees. They maintain approximately 53.29 miles of Town roads.

The Town Hall and shop is located at N1549 County Road T, where the monthly meeting is held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
